3 methods of splitting bees: 1. Find the queen, put 2-3 frames of capped brood and 3 more frames of brood with bees into a new box, then introduce a mated queen or a queen cell. 2. Leave all the bees from the brood chamber down in the box, shake bees off 3 frames of brood, put the frames into a new box, then add drawn comb on either side of those frames and put a queen excluder on top. The next day, take off the queen excluder, introduce a queen, and put the inner cover and lid on. 3. Put a queen excluder between 2 brood chambers, leave the colony for a week, then divide the 2 brood chambers and put the queen in the new box.
